The Pathway to Victory (Joshua 1:1–9):

  1. Believe the promises of God –Trust God! (Vv. 1–5)

    1. I have given you the land. (Vv. 3–4; Gen. 28:12–15)

    2. No one can stand in your way. (V. 5; Deut. 20:1–4)

    3. I will always be with you. (Vv. 5b, 9b; Matt. 28:18–20)

    4. I will not fail you. (V. 5b; Isa. 43:1–2)

  2. Be strong and courageous – Rely on God! (Vv. 6–7, 9)

    1. Trust in the Lord’s strength.
      (Phil. 4:13; Rom. 8:31–32; Eph. 6:10–17)

    2. Focus on the Lord’s power not your enemy’s strength.
      (Deut. 31:6–8; 2 Chron. 32:6–8; 1 Sam. 17:32, 45–47; Dan. 3:16–18)

  3. Apply God’s word – Obey God! (Vv. 7–8, 16–17)

    1. Know the Word.

    2. Meditate on the Word.

    3. Speak the Word.

    4. Do the Word.

The Pathway to Death (Joshua 7:4–5, 10–13):

  1. Willful disobedience of God’s Word – Distrust of God!
    (Vv. 10–13, 20)

  2. Intentionally covering up sin – Deception of self and others!
    (Vv. 21–23)

  3. Reaping the fruit of trouble – Destruction of life! (V. 25)
    (Gal. 6:7–8)
