I. The critical condition of the injured man. 

A. He was a sinful man. (Rom. 3:10–12,23; Isa. 53:6)

B. He was separated from God by sin. (Isa. 59:2)

C. He was hurt by his sin. (Rom. 6:23)

D. He was helpless in his sin. (Isa. 64:6; Rom. 3:20; Eph. 2:8–9; Titus 3: 4–5)

II. The compassionate concern of the men.

A. They genuinely cared. 

B. They personally witnessed. (2 Cor. 5:11,20)

C. They fervently prayed. (Rom. 9:1–3; Rom. 10:1)

D. They boldly acted.

III. The consequences in the community. (Vv. 20–25)

A. Sins are forgiven. 

B. Lives are transformed.

C. Unbelievers are confronted. 

D. Christ is exalted.

E. God is praised.
